We are getting closer and closer to the general election! In Washington’s vote-by-mail system, ballots for the 2024 general election will be mailed out starting on Oct. 18. You’ll have until Nov. 5 to vote, but I urge you to prepare now to vote as soon as your ballot arrives. Don’t let it get lost on your coffee table and lose your opportunity to weigh in on this important election!
When your ballot is ready, be sure to drop it off at one of the local ballot boxes or at the auditor’s office. Drop boxes are much more secure than using the mail.
This article will focus on two more key races: the offices of attorney general and U.S. senator.
What is the role of the Attorney General?
The Washington state attorney general is the state's top lawyer. His or her job is to help government agencies follow the law, represent the state in court, and protect the public. One important part of the AG’s work is keeping consumers safe from scams and unfair business practices. The AG also proposes legislation to further protect families and children and to provide clear, just and enforceable laws. The AG also makes sure that civil rights laws are followed.
The AG also works on issues that affect many people in Washington, like identity theft or senior fraud prevention. He or she can also handle criminal cases when local prosecutors need help. Additionally, the AG oversees charities, making sure those organizations follow the law and are honest about their work.
Pete Serrano for AG: Protecting Washington Families
Pete Serrano is a conservative candidate running for Washington state attorney general in 2024. Serrano, currently the Mayor of Pasco and general counsel of the Silent Majority Foundation, advocates for individual liberties and constitutional rights. His campaign focuses on addressing public safety, supporting law enforcement and opposing government overreach. He has a history of legal action against the state's COVID-19 mandates, gun control laws and other restrictions that infringe on personal freedoms.
Serrano is critical of the state's rising crime rates, citing Washington’s ranking as one of the most dangerous states and high murder and theft statistics. He pledges to restore public safety by empowering police and prosecutors. His platform appeals to voters by emphasizing law and order, governmental transparency, and the protection of family values. Serrano also advocates for energy innovation while maintaining environmental stewardship, reflecting his background in environmental law.
He is endorsed by several Republican organizations and is a champion of smaller government, personal responsibility and conservative principles. More information can be found on his campaign website, SerranoForAG.
What is the role of a U.S. senator?
A U.S. Senator plays a crucial role in shaping the laws and policies that affect our nation. Each senator represents his or her state and serves a six-year term, working to create, debate and pass legislation that impacts all Americans. Senators also spend a lot of time on committee work, focusing on key issues like healthcare, defense and foreign relations. Through these committees, they review proposed laws, hold hearings and make recommendations for changes.
One of the Senate’s unique responsibilities is confirming presidential appointments, such as federal judges and cabinet members, providing a vital check on the executive branch. Senators also have the authority to approve treaties and conduct impeachment trials when necessary.
Beyond the work in Washington, D.C., senators are the voice of their constituents, helping address local concerns and guiding people through federal red tape. With their legislative and oversight duties, they carefully balance national interests with the needs of their state, making sure both are well-represented in every decision.
Dr. Raul Garcia, Putting People First
Dr. Raul Garcia is a conservative Republican running for U.S. Senate in Washington with a story that’s hard to ignore. Born in Cuba, he and his mother escaped Fidel Castro’s communist dictatorship when he was just eleven years old, eventually finding freedom here in the United States.
His journey as an immigrant fuels his passion for the American Dream and solid conservative principles like individual freedom and self-reliance. With over 25 years of experience as an emergency room doctor, he’s not just another politician—he’s a leader with real-world experience. His campaign is centered around public health, leadership, and bringing people together.
Garcia is deeply committed to tackling issues that impact every Washington voter. He’s focused on fighting the fentanyl crisis, pushing for smaller government and promoting personal responsibility. Unlike the incumbent, Maria Cantwell, Dr. Garcia is a strong Second Amendment advocate.
Garcia’s campaign calls for fresh leadership in Washington, D.C., to breathe new life into our state and reinforce the strength of families. A potential Trump presidency needs the support of strong conservative senators! With the endorsement of the Washington State Republican Party and strong grassroots support, Dr. Raul Garcia is poised to make a real difference in the other Washington. It’s time to elect a Senator who understands the dangers of socialism and really believes in the American Dream and will fight to protect it.
