The response of cities like Spokane and others to homelessness has always astonished me. Never before have governments been allowed to use public property (sidewalks, parks, vacant lots, etc.), which are intended for access and use by all, in this way. No one else is allowed to use public property as if it were their own, yet somehow the homeless are allowed to do so, with the associated nuisance and safety issues to others. These city governments have defaulted on their civic obligations to ensure controlled universal access and strictly controlled use of public spaces in a way that ensures sustained availability for all. In my view, neither a Presidential executive order nor any state or local ordinances were needed for that. Best of luck to Spokane going forward!

Well said Nancy! Residents of Spokane are ready for courageous smart leadership! All will benefit. I'm voting for Bingle and Savage in the upcoming General Election in November!!
